 Health Disorders

It has been hypothesized that dis-ease begins in the Chakras (or aura). Once the dis-order has become "heavy" and muddy, it then descends to the emotional and/or physical body producing a disease (As above so below). If this disruption is not corrected, it can burrow more deeply into the physical body, which may cause chronic health conditions.

The below list will give a possible emotional core and Chakra involved. When we treat the Chakra, it works first on the emotional then the physical level. This is one reason that alternative healing does not usually have an immediate effect; it is reversing out the CORE problem, not treating or masking the symptoms.

One might wonder why we can't just make up our minds to be healthy, thereby changing our physical health. The problem we encounter is in the emotions. When there is a decision to be made, and it is a choice between being logical (mind) or emotional, the emotions always win (See Your Body Is Not The Enemy!). These unbalanced emotional patterns are so deeply ingrained, many times even we don't know how we feel or what we may do next.

CHARTS OF
THE CHAKRAS

In the Chakra charts below, you will notice that the physical organs associated with a Chakra do not always specifically match the corresponding essential oil's physical application.

Example

bullet

Nutmeg has adrenal cortex-like activity, and is a wonderful essential oil for the adrenals. However, below you will find adrenals associated with the 1st Chakra, yet nutmeg is listed under the 5th and 6th Chakras.

bullet

The reason for this is that when working with the Chakras you are working with the energy centers (not particular organs), and we are working with the effects of the physical organ's function or dysfunction on the entire Chakra system.

Example

bullet

Notice under the 4th Chakra (associated with the heart), the listed oils are predominantly used for calming and for pain. Because we live in a fearful and stress filled world, these oils may help to balance the negative effects to the body's Heart Chakra, thereby benefiting the heart organ.

3rd Chakra

Color

  Yellow

Common name

  Solar Plexus Chakra

Emotional

This is the emotional holding area, be it sorrow or joy. The energy of the emotions needs to be processed, and when we hold on, or repress old pain it stays in this area and makes us sick (see Your Body Is Not The Enemy!). Working with this Chakra give us the ability to assimilate and release past, present and imagined emotional negativity.

Also see the Emotional Chakra Symptoms Guide

Essential Oils

Angelica, Chamomile, Fennel, Frankincense, Geranium, Juniper, Laurus Nobilis, Lemon Myrrh, Patchouli, Rose, Rosemary, Sandalwood.

Notice that many of these oils have been traditionally used on a physical level to cleanse the body (particularly to liver) and to balance and heighten the  emotional/spiritual levels. The 3rd Chakra is the location of  the silver cord, therefore we must cleanse this area before we can receive spiritual communications. This is why people "contemplate their navels" during meditation.

4th Chakra

Color

  Green

Common name

  Heart Chakra

Emotional

This Chakra is the center for giving and receiving love for self, others, our Creator, and the universe. Notice that a majority of these oils are used for calming and pain.

One of the biggest challenges our country faces today is alcoholism and drug abuse. The cause of this is not a deficiency of alcohol or chemicals in our system, it is pain (heart pain), as is evidenced by the 12 step recovery programs, based on acceptance, love and spiritual acceptance and awareness.

The energy of this Chakra also helps us to overcome a broken heart, dis-appointment and self doubt.

Also see the Emotional Chakra Symptoms Guide

Essential Oils

Bergamot, Birch, Lavender, Myrrh, Patchouli, Rose, Sage, Sandalwood, Tansy, Thyme, Yarrow, Ylang Ylang.

Notice these oils have historically been associated with all levels of love, as well as heightened spiritual and emotional balancing and communication.

To look up the various uses of individual essential oils, see the
Essential Oil Guide

Location

  Heart area

Physical

Heart, breast, lungs and thymus gland. This Chakra is normalizing, balancing,  antiseptic; realigns the physical body for healing, and the emotional body as it relates to innocent, non-judgmental love.

Also see the Physical Chakra Symptoms Guide

Spiritual

This Chakra is the center of earthly and spiritual love and healing; it opens our hearts to experiences of giving and receiving unconditional love and acceptance.

5th Chakra

Color

Blue - More like the color of this page's background

Common Name

  Throat Chakra

Emotional

Center of communication. Many illnesses begin in this area due to "choking" back our words. When this Chakra is balanced, we find the courage to speak our truth with diplomacy.

Also see the Emotional Chakra Symptoms Guide

Essential Oils

Clove, Cypress, Eucalyptus, Hyssop, Jasmine, Juniper, Meleluca, Melissa, Mints, Myrrh, Nutmeg, Sage,  and Sandalwood.

Notice many of these oils are again "hot" and spicy. What happens when you are challenged? Your words or screams need to trigger the 1st Chakra (survival). When we are taught to be a "good girl or boy" we begin to suppress a very real need to speak up, and this suppression of the 1st and 5th Chakras can create a buildup of negative emotions that can affect our health.

To look up the various uses of individual essential oils, see the Essential Oil Guide

Location

  Throat area

Physical

Throat, voice and thyroid gland; realigns the mental body as it relates to communication, recollection, memory, thinking. This area is not creative (that is the 2nd Chakra), but carries our needed action.

Also see the Physical Chakra Symptoms Guide

Spiritual
Opens channels of communication with ourselves, others and our Creator.

6th Chakra

Color

  Indigo or Violet

Common Name

  Third Eye Chakra

Emotional

When balanced and completely open, psychic abilities are unlimited. This area is the bridge that brings subconscious, creative and spiritual messages to the conscious mind. Intuition and inspiration.

Also see the Emotional Chakra Symptoms Guide

Essential Oils

Cedarwood, Cinnamon, Clove, Cypress, Frankincense, Mints, Pine, Nutmeg, Sandalwood, Spikenard.

Notice that most of these oils are spicy and minty, the types of oils we would use to clear our minds and to wake-up. While the 6th Chakra is associated with the "third eye" and spiritual awakening, it is the 3RD Chakra in which we find the silver cord. The 3rd Chakra needs to be cleansed and balanced to RECEIVE spiritual information, it is the 6th where we ASSIMILATE such information.

To look up the various uses of individual essential oils, see the Essential Oil Guide

Location

Just above the eyebrows, about 1 inch into the brain.

Physical

Pituitary and pineal glands. This Chakra has been found to filter out radiation, is astringent, and has tightening qualities that are helpful for tightening and toning the skin, muscles and nerves; stimulates the pituitary, pineal, and para-thyroid glands (yet depresses they thyroid).  Soothes nervous disorders.

Also see the Physical Chakra Symptoms Guide

Spiritual

Opens intuitive channels; unblocks subconscious channels and balances our conscious, subconscious, and super-conscious.

7th Chakra

Color

White or a very bright gold

Common Name

  Crown Chakra

Emotional

Hope, optimism, conscious expansion and love of all things.

*Also see the Emotional Chakra Symptoms Guide

Essential Oils

Helichrysum, Lemon, Lotus, Orange, Rose, Sandalwood, Yarrow.

* To look up the various uses of individual essential oils, see the  Essential Oil Guide

Location

  Top of head or crown

Physical

The 7th Chakra has no specific physical location (it touches the crown of the head then projects out from there), it seems to influence and balance all the other Chakras.

Spiritual

Center of super-consciousness, opens the channels to allow a personal relationship with our higher powers, wisdom, peace and a oneness with our creator.

Meditating to open and clear the Chakras is one of the most effective forms of spiritual-emotional healing. Using an essential oil that cleanses and or enhances the Chakras will magnify the positive results.

Remember, the Chakras are a life force, or energy. Thoughts are energy, and when we meditate it can make tremendous changes in our emotional health which directly affects our physical health (See Your Body Is Not The Enemy!).

of Essential Oils

To begin working with the Chakras, you will be working with the....

bullet Full Chakra Chart

bullet Complementary Chakra/Color Chart

bullet Chakra Physical Symptoms Chart

bullet Chakra Emotional Symptoms Chart

There are two ways to work with Chakras....

If the Chakra involved is under-active, use and essential oils associated with that Chakra.

Example

bullet

Lets say the problem is of general aches. Looking up aches in the Chakra Physical Symptoms Chart we find that the 4th Chakra is involved.

Then we look to what emotions might also be involved. Lets say that the aches cause impatience and irritation; looking up impatience and irritation in the Chakra Emotional Symptoms Chart and we find the 1st and 4th Chakras involved.

bullet

The 4th Chakra is the common denomination, and the symptoms would indicate that the heart Chakra is under active, so an oil of the 4th Chakra such as Birch could be helpful for the aches.

If the Chakra is overactive, use an Opposite/ Complementary essential oil (See the Complementary Chakra/Color Chart).

Example

bullet

In the above example, we found that the emotional response to the aches were irritation and impatience (1st Chakra-red). Since these emotions are "irritating," it can be assumed that the 1st Chakra is overactive.

Looking at the Complimentary Chakra/Color Chart, we find that essential oils of either 5th Chakra-blue or 4th Chakra-green would be appropriate to heal this condition.

bullet

Since the original complaint of aches is being treated with essential oils of the 4th-heart-green Chakra, those same essential oils will address both the physical and emotional complaints.

To apply the oils, merely rub them in a clockwise direction over the Chakra involved.

For the 1st Chakra it can get tricky because the area is sensitive and most of the essential oils are "hot" (high in phenols). Just dilute the essential oils with a little pure vegetable oil. To boost the effectiveness, you can combine the Chakra application with the Reflexology and Meditation

bullet

Complimentary
 Chakra/Color Chart

There are two ways to work with the Chakras and their corresponding essential oils....

bullet

For an under-active Chakra, use the essential oils listed under that Chakra.

bullet

For an over-active Chakra, we want to use a complimentary essential oil  to calm the Chakra (See examples above).

It is helpful to think of the Chakra, and their corresponding colors in terms of elements such as earth, air, fire and water. If you have a fever, the condition is already stimulated (hot) and needs to be cooled. Red is hot like fire, so you wouldn't use one of those essential oils; but green (4th chakra) or blue (5th chakra) are cool like water, so that would be a good choice to bring down a fever.
